I expect that I already know the answer to this, so this is a bit of a long shot.

I meant to book a journey for me from London to Bradford traveling out on 28 Feb returning 2 March.

It seems that I somewhat stupidly booked two tickets. I didn't realise this at the time because the price was within the bounds of what a return journey would typically cost (about £70) even though I tutted over it at the time.

I expect that this is a case of "chalk it up to experience and read the information more closely next time", which I'm ready to do. But just in case there are other options I thought to post here. I'd be very grateful for any thoughts or input of whether there's any other options available to me.

Outbound is LNER, return Grand Central. Booked through Uber ticketing, if it makes a difference.

Kicking myself, natch.

ETA I have just realised that I booked with a Two Together Railcard presumably inherited from the last time I made a booking which makes this somewhat more problematic if I don't have anyone to travel with. Transaction date was 5 Jan.

Oh bother

What was the ticket type? As long it is not 'Advance' then you can get the money back, a £5 fee may be charged but Uber choose not to usually. If it is an 'Advance' then officially all you could would be to change it to another date, or technically you can resell it (as long you don't exceed the price paid), but there's no easy mechanism to do this.

It's Uber. You never know, they might just refund the tickets anyway if you ask.

Someone said they've done it for them before... :D

Buried within the Uber app, there's a link to a webpage of Uber's service partner for rail and coach ticketing, Omio - this includes a contact form.

Fingers crossed they'll help you, although it is as t their discretion. I'm assuming these are either etickets or uncollected tickets which may help.

Well, I couldn't have asked for a better outcome really.

I spoke to their customer services who said if I book the same journey for myself for the same dates, times and stations, that they will refund me for the journey booked in error.

I did it while he was on the call and he talked me through it, and already have the refund confirmation through.

The price has naturally risen a bit but it is still less than the two I booked together (£60.70 vs £76.60, so presumably the seats aren't in the sale) but at least I am not out on two tickets I can't used.

I feel very relieved, and very lucky! I will be much more careful to review the passenger info in future!

Thanks for all your input.

I suspect this is more than you would have got from most retailers, so an excellent result (although I really think that you should be able to use discounted two-together tickets if you're travelling alone providing you have both tickets in your possession)

Well, yes, I agree in principle. If I booked an advance on a Two Together and the other passenger was ill, it does seem somewhat unfair that I would be unable to travel alone and also that the ticket is non refundable, but I suppose the rules are the rules.

But whatever my views on "the system", I am pleased Uber/Omio made it straightforward to resolve the issue, and I am genuinely grateful that they made this solution for me given that it was at their discretion and not an obligation for them to do so.

I am thankful also to those on this forum for directing me to the best way to resolve this. I was honestly getting a bit overwhelmed, and as usual, you helped to get me grounded again.

Thank you.

All the best
