Advice regarding any permitted route for a planned journey?

My husband has an open return ticket (via any permitted route) returning Loughborough to Macclesfield for a work course after which we’re meeting up in Nottingham for the night where I'm travelling down from Macclesfield. We’ll be returning together but will his return ticket, Loughborough to Macclesfield be valid for the entire journey from Nottingham, even thought the journey officially states Loughborough?

Loughborough to Macclesfield is valid via Stoke, and map EM at https://rgpp.iblocks.co.uk/maps

I don’t understand what precisely you’re asking, can you please spell it out in terms of exactly what journeys you want to make?

However, Loughborough-Nottingham-Derby-Stoke-Macclesfield is a permitted route, and starting the journey from Nottingham is also permitted.

The ticket is not valid Macclesfield-Stockport-Sheffield-Loughborough, although this is also not what you are asking.

Just say me and my husband are both in Nottingham and want to return to Macclesfield via the same journey.
I have a ticket from Nottingham to Macclesfield.
Yet say he has an unused valid open train ticket valid on any permitted route that says Loughborough-Macclesfield will his ticket work at the ticket barrier in Nottingham meaning it will be valid for the whole journey or only valid for part of the journey?

What valid route can we both take together where he can use his ticket?

You can travel via Derby and Stoke to get to Macclesfield. Barriers don't always accept valid tickets, so that isn't the 'acid test' for validity. If your husband's ticket is rejected by the barriers at Nottingham, the staff should let him through.
