Hi, I was able to get on a course whilst I was out of work through the job centre.
An NVQ level 2 in railway engineering and track maintenance. I enjoyed the course and from talking to people I got the impression that there was an abundance of well paid work in the industry as a trackman.
However I have called up three or four agencies and they'll all say "We don't have anything on at the moment". Obviously I am a novice on a blue hat, but that really shouldn't be a problem, should it?
I have contacted the following:
And a couple of local small companies. Typing in "railway work agencies" into the internet brings up loads of generic recruitment agencies which isn't exactly helpful.
I am near the Kent coast so perhaps it's a regional thing.
Not really sure how to proceed as all the companies I've spoken to have seemed pretty darn unhelpful and useless.
