Truly the sports car of noses, 22m long nose with 4.5m of passenger space containing just 3 rows of seats in the Alfa-X Shinkansens prototype 2, the Prototype 1 nose was a more modest 16m compared to the existing 15m nose of the E5. The driving cab is integrated into and part of the nose.

They're doing this to increase the max service speed without increasing the likelihood of the train "sonic booming" across the tunnels.

Because, apparently, Japanese Civil Engineers can't bother to change the geometry of the tunnel's entrance.

Hahahaha. What a ridiculous design. I've never seen such a hideous looking train before. I had to check that the date wasn't the first of april when i saw that photo.
