Amaranthe's 14 Day 1st Class ALR Adventure

Well I thought I'd document this 14 day 1st Class All Line Rover trip.

My plan for today is Durham to Skegness via York, Scarborough, Hull, Doncaster, Cleethorpes & Lincoln.

Unfortunately we are not off to the best of starts.

Nice journey on 1Y08 0612 Durham - York 0657 with an excellent first class crew and I enjoyed a bacon roll, 2 coffees & and an orange juice.

My next train is 1U23 0714 York to Scarborough but it's currently running 36 minutes late having lost time between Diggle Jn & Marsden - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C30184/2024-07-26/detailed#allox_id=0

Currently sat in the 1st class lounge at York enjoying another coffee.

Probably less than I'd hoped for tbh, need to replan connections.

1U23 0714 York - Scarborough is now so late it's terminating at York so now on 1U27 0800 York - Scarborough but still waiting for passengers from 1U23 to join us. There is first class on this one though. Just left York now at 0817.

Should hopefully still get to Hull in time for 1A93 1034 Hull to Kings Cross (maybe!)

Yes I changed at Seamer instead of Scarborough so made 1J44 to Hull. Then I got Hull Trains 1A93 1034 to Doncaster.

From Doncaster I then caught 1B72 1137 as far as Barnetby where I enjoyed a swift half at the nice pub next to the station before catching 2L66 1259 as far as Lincoln where I decided to stay the night.

So far today I left Lincoln at 0839 on 2L56 as far as East Midlands Parkway before joining VERY heavily loaded 1C35 1015 to St. Pancras.

I've not been on a 225 for years so decided to bag one while I could so I'm currently on 1D17 1403 Kings Cross to Leeds. It's the Dish menu so I'm going to have the Homity Pie and a Hop on Board.

I'll figure out my next move over a pint in the Wetherspoons in Leeds station.

Interesting day, did the Heart of Wales line but got detrained at llandridnod due to a broken down unit at Knighton so minibus to Knighton and then joined said failed unit at Knighton as 2T10.

And the day hasn't been ruined as 1W96 is running 58 late so I'll still make the connection in Shrewsbury

I hope you keep up the daily log, I was going to do similar but due to the Drivers actions I changed the menu. I am now going to do Regional Rovers instead. I have just completed the east Midlands seven day rover and it went okay. Two cancellations and a few late trains but not to disruptive. Doing the North West rover next.

A shame, I've also learnt the hard way not to rely on the catering on that service. It will be a comfortable ride at least, probably the best coaching stock on the network these days.

I stopped off at Barnetby whilst doing my rovering and did see the Pub. It was closed while I was there but I did have a look through a window but the only beer I could see was Doombar . Always give that one a wide berth. LOL
