I think you can get some books with a list of rolling stock

best place to look is on ebay or any enthusiast groups

I go back to work early January - I'll have a look on the intranet see if I can see any, although I must say it's not something I've come across before.

There was a little booklet produced by LUL a few years ago with lists of all the stock in, unfortunately it was for internal use only :(

Not sure if it was the sort of thing that would have found its way onto the intranet as I remember thinking at the time that it was rather a "trainspotterish" type of thing to produce.

Much better is London Underground Rolling Stock by Brian Hardy, published by Capital Transport - it has complete fleet lists and full details of each type of car and comprehensive histories of each stock. It also covers all the non-passenger stock including battery locomotives and converted service stock.

It's been the bible for the last 30 years, now on around the tenth edition. You should be able to get it online, at specialist transport bookshops and some larger chain bookshops as well.

Edit: it's actually currently on the fifteenth edition, there are only four copies left on Amazon, £9.95, and it covers both the DLR and Post Office Railway stock as well - what more could you ask for!

I have a copy of Brian Hardy's book and it is very informative but it is dated 2002 so does not include the latest stock being delivered or some other changes that have occurred.

Also have a copy of the AEB book which does include the latest Victoria and Metropolitan trains on delivery.

Got both books from Ian Allan shops.

A new edition is due to be produced "soon", coinciding with the delivery of the production '09 Tube Stock and S Stock trains.
