When was the last time that Arriva ran buses in to Cambridgeshire? I completely forget what but I am certain they used to have something that ran in to Cambridgeshire? I know in the 2000s and 2010s they used to have a few routes to Royston which is almost Cambridgeshire but not quite. I think possibly Stevenage to Hitchin to Royston and possibly Hertford to Buntingford to Royston if i remember right. These ran right by the border but did not actually cross. However I am pretty sure they had one service that diverted via Ashwell & Morden station meaning it actually crossed the border and entered in to Cambridgeshire. But my memory is not the best and i am struggling to find anything to confirm? Can anyone confirm when Arriva last ran anything which crossed the border in to Cambridgeshire and which route this was?

The Arriva Fox County 747 used to run every hour from Leicester to Peterborough. The service then passed to Centrebus, and is now cut back to Uppingham, with the Uppingham–Peterborough half covered by a once-daily Vectare service (R4).

It looks like Arriva pulled out of this, and several Stamford–Peterborough services, in 2003: http://pbt.org.uk/news2003.html

Are you thinking of the 90/91 HCC contract service from Hitchen / Letchwortk to Royston via Ashwell? Arriva used to run that (from their Hitchin Garage), but it's been in the hands of various independents for many years now. The Herts CC map shows the current route just nudging into Cambridgeshire, but I recall that the route did run to Guilden Morden (maybe only odd journeys on odd days of the week).

I can't corroborate this, however . . . my Herts CC timetables have gone missing!

It would have been something like that, and yes, from Hitchin depot. So armed with that, I had a hunt down and we have photographic evidence courtesy of David Flett (a renowned enjoyer of rural bus services).

Yes, the 90/91 was indeed operated (think it may have been the odd extension morning and evening. I suspect it passed between operators on tender and that by 2008, Arriva were indeed operating it.

The 90/91 routes do go into Cambridgeshire.

Arriva finished not long after the 2008 picture, by 2010 it was operated by Centrebus.

Many thanks for all the replies. I think the 90 and 91 were definitely what i was thinking of. They sound like what i remember. They both went past Ashwell & Morden railway station which is in Cambridgeshire so they had a few bus stops within the county. I think these must have been the last bus routes in Cambridgeshire that Arriva ever ran.
