Hello

I'm looking at buying a through ticket from Liverpool to Paris on 8 October but having tried the Eurostar website, I can't seem to get any availability for that date. However, both Eurostar and Virgin have availability separately for this date.

Is anyone aware of any particular issue regarding this date or is it just a case of the through fares not having been loaded onto the system yet (with October 8 being at the edge of the booking horizon, I appreciate that's possible).

Cheers

I've had a similar problem for Sat 3rd Oct. Eurostar and Virgin both selling tickets, but not able to buy in one transaction on Eurostar Website. Very annoying...

Why do you want a through ticket?

So that i'm covered under the CIV conditions. However, I've since discovered that I can buy a separate ticket to London CIV so I can get the tickets booked & still be covered in case of any delays.

Thanks

The "loco2" website will sell you the tickets for a Liverpool-Paris journey, including tickets from Liverpool to London International CIV

OK, that was what I was thinking. However, there does seem to be a large subsidy in the cost as the difference between a London to Paris and a Liverpool to Paris using the same Eurostar train seems to be about £20. A bargain for the domestic leg.

For reference, there are two different sets of CIV fares within the UK:
  • Those to London International (NLC 5470) Theoretically available from any station.
  • Those to London Eurostar (NLC 9934). Only available through the Eurostar website and Eurostar Domestic Sales (03432 186 186).

In the case of Liverpool, both sets of fares are identical, but for some journeys there can be a significant difference. With Birmingham, for example, only Virgin set fares to London International, but Chiltern set a fare to London Eurostar (currently £14.50 Single, i.e. half the price of a Chiltern Super Off-Peak Return).

Eurostar telephone sales and enquiries are usually a pleasure to deal with. It's not like ringing the Gas Board!
