Can anyone explain why the Saturday 0832 departure from Chester is timetabled so erratically?

It is advertised to run this Saturday (11 Jan) but not the 18th. It hasn't run regularly for months, despite providing useful and popular connections at Crewe for the LNWR stopper to London, the EMR to Stoke/Derby/Nottingham and possibly others. The hour-long gap between the TfW shuttles means lengthy waits for those connections.

Northampton loop is closed all weekend, so something has to get stripped out for the diverted freight and the Birmingham London LNWR service. The North Wales service is normally the one curtailed back to Crewe as it is on the 18th.

Thanks for quick and clear response.

On the 18th the service doesn't appear to be curtailed to Crewe, rather totally cancelled.

Following the repeated cancellations over recent months, can we expect the service to be timetabled regularly in future, when not affected by engineering works?

5 services to Crewe from Holyhead on the 18th that I can see. 0752, 0952, 1052, 1552 and 1652 arrivals. The week after on the 25th there is an hourly service to Euston.

Agreed, but I was referring to the cancellation of the 0832 originating at Chester. Hopefully, after Jan 18, this will return to normal operation after a long absence.
