I am starting this new thread to discuss the group of six related Aylesbury based independent operators that operate buses across the Buckinghamshire area and surrounding counties:

Red Eagle Buses
Red Line Buses
Red Rose Buses
Star Travel
Vale Travel
Z & S Transport

These six operators are clearly all related in some way. They all have their depots in Aylesbury near each other. I visit Aylesbury a lot and use all six of these operators and from speaking to drivers there appears to be some connection between all of them. Some drivers have said that it is different members of the same families who own them or something like that.

Red Eagle Buses and Red Line Buses and Red Rose Buses are clearly very closely related (probably more so than the other three) as the ticket rolls used on all three of these operators are the same and have all three logos on the ticket roll and say "were part of the Red Group" on the ticket rolls. Also these three operators share the same fleet numbering system. So these three are obviously very closely related. I am not sure why they do not just merge as they are clearly very closely related operators. But the other three have some sort of relation as well but not as close as those three. All six appear to have some sort of relations.

There was also a seventh one called Red Kite Buses which mainly operated a bunch of infrequent once a week Buckinghamshire County Council contracts around Aylesbury and surrounding villages but they seem to have disappeared now. I think they ceased to exist a few years ago just before Corona Virus began.

What exactly is the relation between all of them? Am i correct in my understanding that they are all owned by different members of the same families? How closely are they working together? Obviously the three "red" ones share the same ticket rolls and fleet numbering system so i presume they share some facilities too? I wonder if they all bid for council contract routes or only one bids? I would be interested to hear if anyone knows more about the workings of these six bus operators and how exactly they are related?

The three "Red" companies are owned by different permutations of the same family. I don't think there is any connection between them and Vale. I don 't know about the other two. The Companies House website should have up to date information.
