Birmingham Cross City line questions.

Hi all,

I have a few questions regarding the Cross City line.

If I am travelling on a Bromsgrove service (for example, from Lichfield) and I'm travelling to Alvechurch or Redditch, at which station/s can I change trains to the Redditch service? (assuming of course I am travelling on a flexible ticket).

Am I right in thinking that I can change trains at any point along the route at any station that is served by both services to/from Bromsgrove and to/from Redditch?

I travelled between Lichfield and Redditch recently not realising that the Lichfield services continue to Bromsgrove rather than Redditch and on the return journey I needed to change trains at Four Oaks.

What are the the ticket office opening hours like on the Cross City line? I had a question regarding my ticket and was surprised that the ticket office at Redditch was closed during the early afternoon.

Finally, along the entire Cross City route, other than the obvious Birmingham New Street, and Lichfield stations that I know well, which are the best stations for facilities, e.g. toilets and nearby shops, etc. Another passenger waiting at Four Oaks asked me if there was a toilet at the station and I was surprised that there wasn't one.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Steve.

University will be a good place to wait for your connection if you don't want to wait at New Street. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, toilets and plenty of staff. And both Redditch and Bromsgrove trains go from the same platform.

Depending on how much time you have, you might be able to get off the train at Selly Oak, cross the road, then walk along the canal to university station.

There's a Costa, Starbucks, Greggs and some shops just off the canal too.

Most Cross City Line stations are pretty basic, though they are mostly used for getting to and from the big city so thats probably why.

Redditch bound trains stop at Duddeston but Bromsgrove ones do not usually.
