I'm not sure if the name Bridge Inspection Report Book is correct, but would BR have such a "book" for each specific line?

If so, can anyone tell me what details would be in there?
Bridge Number?
Last inspection date etc?

And would it include the date that bridge was built? - which is my main question.
Finally, does anyone have such a book in their collection? if so, could you please tell me the general details in it.

Thanks,
Andy.

I would expect that there would be a file for each structure as part of the records for each line.

The extent to which files have now been fully digitised may not go back to the times of Victorian construction!
But no doubt programmes/records of inspections and maintenance are now on computerised systems.

As your main question is build date then this may assist:

The information seems to represent snapshots from around 10-15 years ago.

Any 'out of rail use' structure that remains extant is likely to have had the records passed to the new keeper and so finding such records available is perhaps rare.

If you want current practice then a copy of 'Railway Bridge Maintenance', Nigel Rickets, published by ICE 2nd Edition 2017 ISBN 13: 9780727760654 [about £60] could prove invaluable.

Synopsis:
Railway Bridge Maintenance, Second edition provides a thorough overview to assist those involved in the maintenance and management of existing railway bridges, dating from the early nineteenth century to the present, that are essential in supporting railway operations. The second edition has been updated to reflect the current challenges bridge engineers face in assessing conditions and making informed decisions on cost-effective maintenance, repairs, upgrades and replacements. It also provides support to infrastructure engineers and planners who analyse, interpret and make decisions on large populations of bridge structures as part of the long-term planning and preparation of maintenance budgets. Railway Bridge Maintenance, Second edition has been fully updated to reflect the modern methods of asset management, remote condition monitoring and the use of new materials. It contains over 80 illustrations to provide guidance for common defects and offers a range of case studies where defects and component failures have occurred highlighting causes, repair and future prevention measures. This book aims to help readers to quickly target the relevant and necessary information to safely deal with the issues encountered in operating a growing railway on an ageing asset stock. Railway Bridge Maintenance, Second edition is essential to engineers, designers and planners involved in any aspect of the design, construction, repair, maintenance and refurbishment of railway bridges.
About the Author:
Nigel Ricketts retired from Network Rail in 2014 and has been nominated by them as the principal author. Nigel is working closely with Network Rail and Richard Frost (Head of Civil Asset Management) to ensure that the book covers all that is required for the civil engineers responsible for maintaining the ageing railway bridges.

Here’s a random page from an LSWR bridge register, which I hope answers your question.

There’s a few available for download on the Midland Study Centre archive website. Just type bridge register into their search engine.

I have a fair few of these mainly GWR and LNER.

If anyone has any covering (especially) North Wales, the LMS, or Scotland I’d be very interested.

In the north west of England when I was a junior engineer in the 1960s, it was called "Bridge Marking".

You may have better luck searching under that name if all else fails.

Thanks, I'll try searching for words as per your suggest.
