Bristol Temple Meads Station - would a new path from Bath Road bridge to the new eastern entrance be a good idea?

There's also the former Kwik Fit site, which IIRC will feature a new MSCP and another entrance to the station via a bridge next to the tracks towards platform 4 ('Southern Gateway')

I'm not sure that a new entrance towards platform 4 will actually happen. Unless your train arrives or leaves on platform 3 or 4, you still have to walk all the way to the subway to get to the other platforms.

A new path along the eastern side of the railway from Bath Road bridge (steps and a ramp to modern standards) plus another path from Cattle Market Road/Feeder Road to the new eastern entrance may be a better idea.

What do you think?

Also, as well as the passenger subway, there is also a 'goods' subway which is further south of the passenger subway. This has lifts but no stairways (there is a 'ground level entrance/exit plus a route to the passenger subway). Do you think that alterations should be made to open this subway up for passenger use?

It would still be a much more direct and shorter route for everyone heading to the station from the Bath Rd or Totterdown area.

Also possibly more pleasant, since it bypasses the need to navigate that horrible half-footpath-half-cyclepath concoction on Bath Bridge roundabout which is unpleasant to navigate even outside of rush hour (as a cyclist; I'm sure it's worse for pedestrians), and for which there don't seem to be any plans for improvement in sight any time soon.

And if they plonk a new MSCP with cycle hub and car drop-off/pick-up area there I don't really see how that would be attractive without a direct route to the station.

Once the Temple Island is developed I imagine there'll also be a reasonably pleasant route through that site and over to the new Eastern Entrance, but I think it would still be more circuitous, and I'm not sure if Brock's Bridge is that great an experience for pedestrians.

It'd be great if there was an additional pedestrian bridge from the Temple Island student blocks to Cattle Market Rd and the new entrance, but I don't remember seeing any plans for that.

Would a path / subway be possible from Mead St under Bath Road & a path parallel to the line? That’s a nice quiet road to approach on a bike or on foot from the Bedminster direction. It’s a horrible mess to get there by the usual paths and roads, too many buttons to press and long waits. Not sure how easy it would be to make something sensible on the station side of the bridge. Maybe that’s a site for redevelopment as it looks like low rise industrial at the moment, stick a residential tower on it!
