Can anyone explain what this box was used for?
Is it a standard issue BR thing?
Can anyone identify how old it is...?

I'm interested to know because it has been knocking around in my fathers garage since the late 1970s.

Here's some photo's of it.

Any info would be really appreciated.

The following came up on a Google search.

http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/other/704933-kolliliste.html

and from that:

http://www.collico.de/

A German company specialising in collapsible and disposable packaging.

With the words British Railways rather than British Rail it is probably 1950s or 60s rather than 70s.

This old news article (1961) in the Glasgow Herald also mentions the Collico case:

Thanks MarkyT. Interesting to think it was earlier than I thought. I think my father recieved it as result of transporting tins of Ink from the Usher Walker factory back in the day, now come to think of it.
