It may be of interest to some, BTP are currently looking for Special Constables to work from a number of stations across the Divisions in England & Wales, the link is here. I know for some time they have taken applicants from TOCs & FOCs as well as from the general public. If you fancy giving sweat, blood & tears for the good of the community it might be worth a look. The workshop evenings in England have already occurred but the main point which was put across was don't be afraid, prepare yourself and if accepted you will be supported and no question is a stupid question.

Had a look at this in the past, not a chance I'd get four weeks leave between July and August though for the training.

They also have a training period beginning in November and that is mostly weekends, they haven't advertised that but said at the workshop that anyone who cannot do four weeks in the summer could opt for the November intake, it starts from the 25th, I don't know how long it takes though as it is broken down into weekends rather than the intensive four weeks.

Cheers for that, might be an option if I speak nicely to my manager. Will certainly bare it in mind.
