I just realised that not everything is free, lol, could anybody point me in the right direction and give me a good websites for freeware downloads for BVE4 including freight (and unusaual places e.g.Weymouth quay station) please? because i've been looking around and on here ages ago says about Weymouth quay station but it might not be free or for BVE4? i've only just got into this so i don't really know much about everything

i've downloaded the Edinburgh - Aberdeen route, and i only downloaded the 37 loco for the train on a SRPS railtour, and a 66 for the cement train which, (I don't bother with the 170 etc) but when i go on BVE4 and then try to open the route, instead of it saying the route and the time to the left ( e.g. [09.14] ) it just says ' 2x37 ' but when i try to open it, it says 'train cannot be found', why is this? because i would really like to drive the Edinburgh - Aberdeen line, espiecially in a 37 or a 66

I have BVE4 'London BVE' and yes i got the 37 and 66 from Trainsimcentral 'mbonwick.

I moved the files from where the computer put it itself (bve4 folder) to the mackoy folder i have then into BVE4 and then i tried to load it then it loaded abit but then came up errors, and i clicked ignore and then i got as far as i was in the 37s but no scenery just plain white but i could see the signal, maybe if i just delete the whole lot off my computer (Edinburgh - Aberdeen stuff) and then maybe someone could talk me through how to download it properly and where to download it to, that would be great and i would be greatful

I think that is the installation problem with the route installer.

Make sure that all BVE 4 trains goes to: (Hard drive):/Program Files/mackoy/BVE 4/train

Make sure all BVE 4 Routes goes to: (Hard drive):/Program Files/mackoy/BVE 4/Railway/Route

Make sure all BVE 4 Objects goes to: (Hard drive):/Program Files/mackoy/BVE 4/Railway/Object

Make sure all BVE 4 Sound goes to: (Hard drive):/Program Files/mackoy/BVE 4/Sound

So if I am not wrong the route, object and sound installer points to (Hard drive):/Program Files/BVE 4, which it should be (Hard Drive):/Program Files/mackoy. Fire up the installers and check.

Now, i put the 'Scenery' part into: (Hard drive):/Program Files/mackoy/BVE 4/Railway/Object

And i put the class 37 and 66 'route file and timetable' into: (Hard drive):/Program Files/mackoy/BVE 4/Railway/Route

And being as i have already got class 37 and 66 already downloaded on my computer i did not download them again, but still when i try and work it, it don't work, with the class 37 one, it loads abit and then comes up with a load of errors, where i have the choice to 'Abort' or 'Ignore', and if i try with the class 66, it just says 'Train not found'

Or 'Boxcars' if you have this route, could you help me out?

This is just ****ing me off now, i've deleted all what i downloaded again, kept the class 37 and 66 in (hard disk)\program files\mackoy\bve4\Train, has anybody actaully got this route on there computer, so they can actaully talk me through it, cos it keeps coming up with errors or what ever.

So from now, if one of you reading this has got the Edinburgh - Aberdeen route, could you talk me through where everything needs to go, because the website with this route on is different to trainsimcentral, there like a 'scenery' files that needs to go somewhere, 'Route and timetable' needs to go somewhere, and then theres 'Traction Files' but i clikc that and it sends me to trainsimcentral website, and plus i have already got class 37 and class 66 downloaded on my computer

The clue is in the error message....

Taking the last line of the messages as an example;

This suggests the object file CuttingL02b.csv has not been placed in the directory

c:\program files\mackoy\bve4\railway\object\edin\

Installers can be a pain in the backside if they don't put the files in the same location as is consistent with your own particular setup, but it is normally fairly simple to cut and paste them to the correct location.


On the subject of file locations, it is not important where the railway and train directories are located, eg

c:\program files\BVE4\

is equally as valid as

c:\program files\mackoy\bve4\

as long as the
\train and
\railway\route, object and sound subdirectory structure is maintained; that is the important bit.

Hopefully, things are slightly clearer than mud now....

3. Download the trains (if you haven't already done so)

4. Run the installers in the correct order (object, trains, route)

Yes, at trainsimcentral there was someone with a similar problem to you. Look at the rout file and make sure that the .withtrain command matches the train name in BVE4\Train.

That's exactly the sort of thing I had in mind - might be worth stickyfying something along those lines; just about everytime a route is released, someone pops up with an identical problem to that being discussed here.

re the class 66 installation, that needs to go in train\class66 - same place as the other trains. Be sure to check the train directory name specified in the route file is the same as the actual directory name (no spaces present in my version).

Ensure the train files are in the ..\\bve\train\class66 folder - the same place as your other trains that do work.

If you have downloaded from TSC, there should be no problems with this.
