The Train de Charlevoix that ran from outskirts of Quebec City along the St. Lawrence River to the Charlevoix region ceased operations at the end of 2024 because it could not secure funding from the communities along the route. A report by Radio Canada (in French) gives some more details.
I used it on my Canada trip in 2023 and enjoyed it. But as it was a tourist offering it was pretty expensive. I had planned three rides (Quebec to Baie St Paul, Baie St Paul to La Malbaie and La Malbaie to Quebec) which were priced at 250 CAN$ (about 170€ at the time). And the departure point was hard to reach without a car. Even-though there is a rail connection to the Gare du Palais in downtown Quebec the train started below Montmorency Falls and not in downtown.
Sad to this go as it travelled through some beautiful parts of rural Quebec.
