Hi all,

Wonmdering if you can help. I can't receive picture messages on my phone. Instead, I receive a message from Vodafone saying 'so and so has sent you a picture message, view it at Get My Photo'

On the FAQs on this Get My Photo, it says you might not beable to receive picture messages because either your phone isn't a picture message phone, or your settings are wrong.

The phone I have is a HTC Desire C, is it a picture message phone? If it isn't I think issueing a complaint might be in order because when I was looking up about the phones when I got it I didn't see anything about it not being a picture message one. I wouldn't have got the phone if I'd have known.

Or it could be that the settings are wrong, but I phoned them last month and they told me some settings to alter, which I did. But it still doesn't seem to work. Here's something else that is interesting, whenever I ring cutomer services I get the Pay & Go options, instead of the Pay Monthly ones. Dunno why that is!

Do you reckon an expedition to a Vodafone shop might be in order?

Heinz

Yeah it'll be Android. I have a work Wildfire S on VF that has sending ability bit seems it is blocked on our contracts so can't test :(

I believe the Desire C is a step on from this Wildfire S

Yeah it is an Androind phone.

Crossover, from what you say it should beable to receive the messages. So maybe there must be something wrong with the settings. I'll have to pay a visit to a Vodafone shop maybe.

Heinz,

I asked my daughter about this, as she works for Vodafone Retail. She says that MMS isn't provisioned on your vodafone account, and they can sort this out for you very easily in a vodafone shop, or if you ring 191 from your mobile, and explain this to them, they can sort it over the phone for you.

Perhaps the Vodafone forum, or other phone related forum, will be a better source of information (not forgetting you can directly communicate with Vodafone staff on there without having to have contact with those smug, arrogant and condescending phone shop workers)

Probably, but no has ever sent one to that phone so I don't know.

Since I can't send them, as per above poster it sounds like we may not have it provisioned.

Put it this way, my own phone is a Sony Ericsson k770i - a model which is probably 5 years old in total and one I have had for over 4 years and it does picture messaging fine - if a new Android one didn't I'd be very surprised! (there again, a colleagues new Nokia Lumia (I think) doesn't do file transfers via Bluetooth, so, ya know...)

Ermmm, that's my daughter you're talking about there! I think you'd find that she is NONE of those things.

To be fair, I've always found phone shop workers to be quite helpful, I've had to visit shops when I've had problems with other phones and networks. Its just the waiting around - for some reason its always the busy times when I go!

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help. I'll pay the Vodafone shop a little visit when I can and see what they can do.
