It appears that trains between Okehampton and Exeter and Barnstaple and Exeter have been suspended due to a car having been driven onto the railway line at Salmonhutch / Salmon Pool level crossing and then abandone.

A CAR driven onto the railway line between Crediton and Salmonhutch Railway Crossing has stopped all trains running to and from Exeter to Okehampton and also to and from Barnstaple.
The car was apparently abandoned on the tracks between Crediton and Salmonhutch during the early hours of today, Monday, October 21.

Presumably another "sat nav fail"?

The car appears to be facing the Salmonpool crossing thus presumably got onto the railway at Crediton l/c and bounced along?

Lines reopened 1210. A railway source suggested that the car had been stolen and then abandoned. After the police investigation there was some difficulty removing the car.

Thanks for the update.

Could have been potential for a nasty accident there as a train would not expect to encounter a car in such a location.
