Cardiff Central to Ebbw Vale Town via Newport

Today the TFW services from Cardiff on the 20:06, 21:06 and 22:06 go via Newport. Is this a temporary route for these times or permanent? Could the ticket check with using a Valleys Day ticket pose a problem as Newport is not a valid station on it?
