Being as the GWR Castle Class HST’s are going to be scrapped, would it not be a good idea for a deal to be done whereby the nameplates (Welsh ones at least) go to TfW for their Class 67 locomotives?

I'm sure the GWR logos on the nameplate would fit in well with the TfW brand.

They could easily grind the loco’s off.
So you're going to grind off the loco (plus the rest of the train?) and presumably the "Class 255 Castle Class".

Wouldn't you just be better off flogging them for charity?

Should have read loGo but the dam spelling corrector changed what I typed and I missed that. Wonder what the name plates would be worth?

I remember that when the first 67s were named, there was some discussion about whether they could carry conventional nameplates because they were designed to take up the full envelope allowed by the loading gauge so that a more powerful engine could be accommodated. That’s why the initial EWS names were attached to the cabsides.

The language police would also be up in arms, as would North Walians who would object to all the castles being in the south - you’d want Flint and Conwy in there for a start, as they can be seen from the route.
