I was caught on Govia ThamesLink using a freedom pass. I was stopped at St Albans. I have been looking at some posts of similar situations and it seems prosecution is almost 100% certain. Unwisely, I signed a witness statement which only increases my chances of being convicted.

I have recently received an intension to prosecute letter. The only small difference is that I was stopped by Govia staff rather than Tfl. However they did say they would be passing my details to tfl.

I am just wondering if I am going to be prosecuted twice by Tfl and Govia? Also I have heard that Govia are a bit more reasonable than Tfl, is this true?

Was it your Freedom Pass?

I don’t think these are valid as far out as St Albans, so the problem appears that you didn’t have a valid ticket for your journey, which would be a GTR matter only.

However, if it wasn’t your pass then clearly there is another matter, which TfL may be more interested in.

It was not my freedom pass no. I was stopped at finsbury park on my way to St Albans.

The letter I received was from GTR. I was shocked too, I thought it was TfL but I have only received from GTR.

English isn't my first language

Ok, it will help us help you if you are accurate with what you tell us, so even if English is not your first language then please try to do so.

So it isn’t your Freedom Pass? Is it one belonging to someone in your family, and if so, did they let you use it? If so then they could be in trouble with TfL, so it’s an important point.
