Hello

I spent a few days in Zermatt and several cable cars and the Gornergrat railway a lot during my hiking tours.

Gronergrat Railway

The Gronergrat Railway is a rack railway that links Zermatt up to the Gornergrat. A train waits in Zermatt for the next run up the mountains

Sunnegga

An underground cable car links Zermatt to the Sunnegga. Train in the upper station

Sunnega had some nice hiking trails too.

Trockener Steg

I got my first Matterhorn impressions from "Trockenen Steg" geholt. The trip there started with the cable car to Furi (Zermatt in the background).

An then I had to change to this cable car to continue my journey

On the day I went up there, the slope preparation were in vain. As it was pretty windy the last cable car that would have gotten the skiers up to the starting point could not run. This was good for me, because it was pretty calm up there because all the skiers had to stay back in Zermatt

Zermatt

Finally, some mixed pics from Zermatt. This sign in front of a pub made me chuckle

Car are not allowed in Zermatt. The only car-like things are these electric vehicles

There are no huge buildings or hotels in Zermatt but small (mostly tastefull) buildings. On the right the tour of the Catholic church

This time no pictures of church windows, but from the painting on the cealing insteadt: Noah and the Arc

This wraps up this little trip report. After a week of hiking I hopped in the Glacierexpress to Chur for another week of hiking and day trip to Italy with the Berninaexpress. But this is a story for another day.

Cheers
Charly
