So i live in Northampton, and i'm going to Euston tommorow. I need to return to northampton for a few hours then continue on to Coventry at night.

The fares for COV-EUS are the same as NMP-EUS but due to restriction LG (which says it applies Mon-Sat but in the notes break of journey is not allowed for the outward journey) I have to buy a ticket NMP-MKC. I believe there is a rail-replacement bus this weekend though which is annoying as it means i'll have to enter MKC which means another (single) ticket or i got to get a ticket from northampton to a further along station.

All this is to save money ofc. Any tips?

The ticket you mention is NOT valid for starting short, so you cannot use it (legally), even if you buy another ticket to get onto MKC platform.

As the relevant fare from NMP-EUS is slightly cheaper than COV-EUS, you would be better off buying that plus a single NMP-COV anyway, as well as absolutely legal. :)

Although that will require travelling to Coventry via Northampton, rather than on a (more) direct train.

Ah ok i didn't know that, thank you that sounds like the best option.

I'm going to be going back to northampton anyway so it should be fine. not looking forward to the bus though haha.

Edit: Ok i found a ticket that could work (restriction SK) is this a viable ticket (to start at NMP instead of COV) out of curiosity? Trainline seem to have got it wrong though, it's meant to be an off-peak return not a super off peak return (it shows both LG and SK for the same super-off peak ticket!)

COV - EUS. i got the off-peak travelcard which should allow for break of journeys. Pictures are for the super-off-peak return

You are not making this clear - you are showing restrictions for a Super Off Peak Return but telling us you’ve got an Off Peak Travelcard which is not the same thing.

Both carry restriction SK.

The Offpeak Return (SVR) at £42 is slightly cheaper than a combination of tickets, the Travelcard slightly more at £46.
Either allows BOJ (and, usefully, using an LNR train that is routed via Weedon).
