Hi,

I need to go from Cuffley station (on the Hertford North FCC line) to Victoria in zone 1. Could somebody please tell me the cheapest way to do this?

Currently I buy a 7 day ticket from Cuffley to Highbury and Islington and then use my oyster card to Victoria, so the cost for a week is £40 + £25 for 10 journeys in zones 1 and 2. Does anybody know a cheaper way to do this?

I know you can use oyster cards from Crews Hill so could get a 1-6 travel card and a 7 day ticket between Cuffley and Crews Hill but I believe I could only use trains that stop at Crews Hill. Is it better/cheaper to get a 7 day ticket to somewhere like Bowes Park and then a zones 1-4 travelcard?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm totally confused!!!

Many thanks!

Currently you pay £39.50 for Cuffley - Highbury and Islington 7day Season, then you pay £22 for 10 Journeys from Highbury and Islington to Victoria, i've worked out £22 by this calculation :

You must travel before 9:30am in the morning so £2.50 x 5 = £12.50, then you return anytime so it will cost £1.90 x 5 = £9.50 = total cost £22.00

so you currently pay £61.50 each week..

Let's check out the cost of splitting at Crews Hill with a 7day season, and then a Zone 1-6 Weekly..

Cuffley - Crews Hill 7day Season = £11.50
London Z1-Z6 Weekly on Oyster = £ 50.40

Total Cost : £61.90 so 40p more than current spending..

Your next option :

Cuffley - Bowes Park 7 Day Season = £23.50
London Z1-Z3 Weekly on Oyster = £32.20

N.B Bowes Park is on the Boundary of Zones 3 and Zones 4, so you would only need a ticket from Zone 1 - Zone 3 weekly :)

total cost = £ 55.70 saving you £6.30 a week

Have you considered Monthly? If you buy the Bowes Park Option every week for a Month it will cost you 4 x 55.70 = £222.80 per month,

if you buy a Cuffley - Bowes Park Monthly Season it will Cost : £90.30 + London Z1 - Z3 Monthly Ticket £123.70 = £214, saving you £8.80 a month...

Overall Savings from Orignal Spend :

£61.50 per Week (Currently) x 4 = £246 per month

1st Option Buying Weekly Cuffley - Bowes Park and London Z1 - Z3 x 4 = £222.80 per month this option will save £23.20 per month

2nd Option Buying Monthly Cuffley - Bowes Park and London Z1 - Z3 = £214 per month this option will £32 per month

But i dont know your circumstances, i.e whether your justified in buying a Monthly Ticket, but hope all this information helps.
