The Warrington Borough Transport services are not being replaced. The GHA service is being run commercially in competition with WBT. GHA've quite cleverly managed to run a few minutes ahead of WBT in both directions, and with the 45 being a busy service it seems likely that they will do well.

I see GHA have changed their website this afternoon. They previously said they'd been awarded a Cheshire West route - making it sound like the council had awarded a contract to them, not just the traffic commissioner has allowed them to operate the service. They now say it's a commercial service.

Is any part of the WBT route subsided? If it is the funding will have to be withdrawn when the competing commercial service starts.

At the moment GHA Coaches aren't part of Warrington Plus Bus, which includes Stockton Heath. The day ticket prices for GHA and WBT are the same, GHA offer a £19 weekly ticket opposed to WBT's £22. However, WBT offer longer season tickets including an annual one for £720 which is much better for money than a £19 weekly ticket. So it's difficult to say who'll win.

ive heard the new x8 will be a 7 days a week service operated by enviro 300s out of chester depot, heard the route will be chester past countess hospital to Cheshire oaks, ellesmere port bus station then routed via bottom of ellesmere port near rail station then onto m53 to eastham then a41 to Birkenhead & Liverpool, much needed additional service as 1, 2 & x2 are getting busy, good to see stagecoach trying to get some of the routes back that first give up many years ago, also gha 36 service is changing beginning of august it will start from ellesmere port rail station via bus station & stanney lane to Cheshire oaks then down to Elton helsby frodsham & Runcorn, service will finish hour earlier & wont serve ince any more.

the new x8 will be every 30 mins Monday to Saturday & hourly on sundays, route will be chester bus exchange, chester rail station, hoole road, m53 to Cheshire oaks, ellesmere port bus station, e port rail station, m53 to eastham then after bromborough its non stop to Liverpool, it wont be part of quality partnership so no arriva tickets valid, service also provides regular service between chester town hall & rail station & stagecoach talking to rail companies about a Cheshire oaks rail ticket which can be used on x8 from chester or e port rail stations, I can see this service being popular, service 5 in chester being increased to every 20 mins to help with 6 being withdrawn, both services cover roughly same area.

...to replace the Stagecoach 6 that's being withdrawn?

Stagecoach had this statement on their website...
"We understand that another alternative bus service may be provided to Belgrave Road by a different operator"

GHA Coaches have lost the contract for the 21 Chester-Frodsham evening service. Stagecoach Merseyside will take over the service from 6th October.

I notice Cheshire West & Chester council aren't mentioning the GHA Coaches 45 service on their website.
