I’ve noticed that Chiltern are recruiting for qualified drivers in Birmingham, presuming Moor Street.

Can anyone shed any light on if this is for people leaving, retirees or extra work? Vacancy doesn’t indicate how many positions they’re recruiting for nor is there a closing date

Could someone also give me an indication of the rosters at Moor Street, rest days, shift length, night work, general Ts and Cs please?

Qualifed Train Drivers

  • Work independently while keeping close communication with our control center and engineering teams to resolve any issues.
  • Complete critical reports at the end of your shifts and help maintain punctual, high-quality services.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Attention to Detail: Whether you’re preparing the cab or responding to on-the-spot challenges, accuracy is everything.

I can't tell you anything Birmingham specific but company wide sundays are outside/voluntary, 50% rest day saturdays, spare movement +/- 3 hours

No direct experience - but it’s notable how you never seem to hear anything bad about Chiltern from people who’ve worked there. It generally seems a happy ship: The pay hasn’t been great historically, and still isn’t stellar compared to LNER/Avanti, and there’s at least some DOO, but the Ts and Cs generally seem decent.

Sundays outside, 3 hour spare movement etc. and £65k isn’t bad.
