why dont chiltern use tyseley anymore?
Due to tyseley being controlled by West Midlands Railways ie for maintenance another company. Which will then charge arriva. Also as more than six months and way more months ,have elapsed wmr maintaince staff will no longer have knowledge on chiltern fleet. However when at tyseley. Chiltern railways drivers was also based there. With chiltern fitters also working there. But back in time when this happened fitters and guards was at Birmingham Snow Hill.
Drivers and guards and fitters after 2010.
Moved to Birmingham Moor Street.
Hence stabling sidings one and two.
Quite interesting around 2010 till 2013. Approximately before becoming plug doors and mk3 stabling overnight. Done at Stourbridge Junction. The 67s and mk3 slam doors in Wsmr Wrexham and Shropshire railway livery and ex stock used those sidings.
Whilst tyseley was still used for 168 165. Due to Slam mk3 at Birmingham Moor Street.
However due to Separate companies at a cost. Tyseley was charging Arriva Chiltern some money for them using it for the 168 165. After 2013 2014. When mk3 moved to Stourbridge Junction. Ie plug door conversion. Tyseley apart from Thursday nights due to maintaince at Birmingham Moor Street lost all the work. However fitters and drivers had to go to Tyseley Thursday's only. But a costly affair. Since around 2018 or so it ended with everything being done at Light Maintaince northern end at Stourbridge Junction or Birmingham moor Street with fitters based at both locations.
Also Aylesbury has a Wheelathe. So less need to go to Tyseley as well.
Also all of chilternrailways fitters and maintenance staff are fully employed by chiltern.
