Hi all,
There is currently demolition work taking place next to the railway immediately NW of Stafford station, and opposite the former site of W.G. Bagnall locomotive builders, now a residential development "Bagnall Meadows".
A few weeks ago demolition work on the building closest to the railway was halted and part of that corner of the site fenced off with hazard warning signage. Work then resumed and they seem to be excavating around some kind of circular construction as can been seen in this photo;

Photo location is at the centre point of this map (openrailwaymap.org) looking SE.
Any thoughts on whether this might have been something railway related in the distant past or recollection just if there was railway related activity on that site at all?
Cheers!
