Class 317 to Braintree?

I wasn't too sure on what's going on - as far as I know this working is incredibly rare and isn't scheduled, 1 of 3 of the trains on Greater Anglia's Liverpool Street - Braintree diagram is formed of two 317 units, 317654+317659 I think (for whatever reason it's 8 cars on a Saturday).

To my knowledge, this is quite rare (I have only seen this once before and this was months, months and months back!) and is always done by a 321. Any more info on this or?

Seen it on the 1048 and 1248 London Liverpool Street to Braintree.

Does happen very occasionally. Although 317s and 321s are similar, only Ilford drivers sign 317s. Southend, Colchester and Clacton drivers also work on the Braintree branch so you don't want a 317 on one of their diagrams.

Just arrived at Liverpool Street on 21.01 arrival from Braintree, about to retire to Orient Way.

There were two pairs out the other was 511+658 which worked the 10:48, 13:48 etc... with 654+659 the 12:48, 15:48 etc.. the other diagram was a pair of 321s as normal.
