Personally speaking, it doesn't do anything for me, the blur is of such a small amount it just seems like an exposure error rather than creative. That kind of shutter speed would be ok for a pan, but you'd need a tripod and longer shutter opening to better show speed in that way.

I agree with Mumrar. It is very, very difficult to capture a sense of speed this head-on. The size of the subject in the frame doesn't help either.

No problem, always glad to help out. Just because you may see a shot hasn't come out how you wanted, it doesn't mean you know why it hasn't worked. If you look at the link http://www.trainpics.net/p50694173.html this is an example of a longer exposure shot, but you can still identify what train it is.
