Hi,

I am looking for confirmation that my tickets are valid. I have two annual tickets:
  1. Huntingdon -> Finsbury Park annual season ticket (on a smart card)
  2. annual zones 1-2 travelcard (on oyster)
I want to make a journey Huntingdon->Kings Cross on a train that doesn't stop at Finsbury Park. Am I able to combine the two tickets despite the train not stopping at Finsbury Park?

I believe this is possible under NRCoT 14.3 but I find this paragraph quite confusing so I am looking for some reassurance!

Cheers

Yes, this is perfectly fine. When one (or both) of your tickets are season tickets or zonal, you can undertake non-stop splits provided you pass through a station where both tickets are valid - in this case, Finsbury Park.

It's worth noting that you couldn't travel on a train that went non-stop from London to Peterborough (or beyond) by adding on a third ticket, as you can only do up to one non-stop split at a time. There needs to be a station call in between each non-stop split.

Any source for this?

The NRCoT. Condition 14.2 states:
Unless Condition 14.1 applies, you may use a combination of two or more Tickets to make a journey provided that the train services you use Call at the station(s) where you change from one Ticket to another.
So the NRCoT clearly spells out where it's referring to more than two tickets.

Contrast that with 14.3:
Unless Condition 14.1 applies, if you are using a Season Ticket, daily Zonal Ticket, or another area based Ticket such as a concessionary pass, ranger, or rover, in conjunction with another Ticket and the last station at which one Ticket is valid and the first station that the other Ticket is valid are the same, then the train does not need to Call at that station for your combination to be valid.
Which explicitly talks about "a" ticket in conjunction with "another" ticket, and "one" ticket and "the other" ticket. There's nothing there which suggests that multiple consecutive non-stop splits are permitted.

By contrast, the old NRCoC made it clear that multiple non-stop splits were permitted:
one of the tickets is a Season Ticket (which for this purpose does not include Season Tickets or travel passes issued on behalf of a passenger transport executive or local authority) or a leisure travel pass, and the other ticket(s) is/are not.

This change was noted on the forum when the NRCoT replaced the NRCoC:
The new wording of 19(c) (now 14.2) is interesting. It seems to have a few gaps in it - specifically that it could be interpreted to read that (a) only a combination of two tickets is permitted, no more
