Hello! I'm starting my new job as a trainee conductor soon. But my contract is a fixed-term contract until the expiry date of my visa. However, I will qualify for indefinite leave to remain (permanent residency) before my visa expire. So I wonder it would be easy to have my contract switched to permanent or extended further once I get the permanent residency. Many thanks for any advice in advance!

Thats going to be a question that only HR/your manager can answer. You're in a fairly unique position as 99.9% of the time TOCs require indefinite leave to remain before offering a train crew role

As above, this isn’t something the Forum can assist with. Please refer to Union Reps, your Line Manager, and/or HR.
