Could HS2-HS1 link be done by existing lines?

With existing lines such as the North London line linking to HS1, could there be a link made at Old Oak Common. Trains could use the West London line and a new curve onto the GWML for access to Old Oak Common. This could resurrect the shuttle of HS2 and provide a better Eurostar, in theory.

No. There is no practical way of linking the WLL to HS2, it’s been mentioned numerous times.

There is allegedly not enough demand for through services either.

Maintaining frequent overground services on the main circle is more important than a fancy Birmingham-Paris which would be overpriced and slower than changing at Euston St Pancras or Easyjet

I think if you wanted a HS1-HS2 connection then you'd be better off restoring the original idea of a dedicated connection so as to not use up capacity on the West or North London Line. That way you could actually run proper high speed trains to the continent from Birmingham in around three hours. Not that it will actually happen in reality.

HS2 is 40m underground at OOC. There is no space for any new curve onto the GWML from the WLL as North Pole Depot is now on the site of the old connection.

Besides that, as has been mentioned many times in these forums before, there has never been any intentions to link both HS1 to HS2. If people from Birmingham want to go to Paris, they either have to fly or travel into London St Pancras station.

That's not strictly true - it was studied and a recommended option put forward, although quickly dropped as the costs were out of all proportion to the benefits.

If Crossrail 2 is built you will be able to walk from Euston to St Pancras via the underground platforms. That's as good as it will get.
