Crossrail promised toilets at all but two of the new stations (Canary Wharf and Bond Street excluded).

However, I haven't noticed toilets or toilet signage on the photos and videos of the new stations (e.g. Tottenham Court Road).

Did Crossrail lie when they said toilets would be available? Or, will they deliver?

Dunno about any of the other stations, but there certainly are toilets at Abbey Wood (free, and on the platform side of the barriers). I think that's the only new station building being built for Crossrail that's already open.

Have the Farringdon toilets been replaced or reopened?

That's good to hear.

I previously saw this article from 2010, which didn't sound promising:

https://www.londonreconnections.com/2010/crossrail-–-crossed-legs/
“A spokeswoman for Crossrail said: “We have not provided toilets at Farringdon as it has existing ‘free of charge toilets’”.

The current “free of charge” station lavatories at Farringdon are located at the top of the stairs at Platform 4. During wet weather, they have a tendency to flood and become extremely unsavoury. They are often closed. Might we respectfully suggest that Terry Morgan despatch his spokesperson, forthwith to use these toilets before making any further comment on this matter.

There are free public toilets in Crossrail Place, the shopping bit above Canary Wharf Crossrail station.

That's good to know, although I was wondering about toilets delivered by Crossrail itself (whether they kept their promises for the other stations).

I think Farringdon, Paddington, Heathrow, Abbey Wood, Reading, Canary Wharf, Liverpool Street, and Shenfield may be the only ones which have toilets. I'll be happily proven wrong though.

West of Paddington the following have them already: Ealing Broadway, Hanwell, Southall, Heathrow, West Drayton, Slough, Burnham, Taplow, Maidenhead and Twyford already have them. It also says Hayes & Harlington on the map below but I'm not sure if it is up to date because the building on P4/5 (where they probably were) was demolished in 2015/16.

East of Liverpool Street toilets are already at: Stratford, Ilford, Seven Kings, Chadwell Heath, Romford, Gidea Park, Harold Wood, Brentwood and Shenfield.

Hayes and harlingtons are in the portakabin outside tescos

TfL will class toilets serving the NR sections of stations as serving their station too. For example liverpool street

If that refers to the mainline station then it won't help those at the Liverpool St/Moorgate subterranean platform level.

They show liverpool street central line/subsurface as having toilets when they are in the network rail station.

Same with paddington

In 2011 Crossrail stated 30 out of 37 stations would have toilets.

They also stated that, of the central stations, only Canary Wharf and Bond Street would not have facilities.

Tottenham Court Road and Whitechapel tube stations don't have toilets currently, so the toilet provision must be brand new. I hoped that decent sized facilities would be provided, but I've seen no indication of that in recent press releases and open day reports.

I wonder if the toilet provision in the new stations will be similar to that found in Canada Water tube station - i.e. behind a locked door that no one is allowed to use.

The toilets at canada water are only open certain hours 07:00-21:00 I believe they are keypad entry for bus drivers outside those hours.

The TfL toilet map doesn't show any public toilet facilities at Canada Water. (Although the station information page on the TfL website does suggest there are some.)

Indeed, that's what I'm wondering about for the Crossrail stations - whether it will be a proper facility, or a facility that will be quickly forgotten about / closed as happened at Canada Water.

According to an online article, the toilets were closed at Canada Water after reports of an assault. Apparently the assault accusation turned out to be untrue, but the toilets remained closed.

I guess that would be the bus station toilets, rather than the station toilets? I could be wrong.
Yeah. If the train station toilets are closed .I would guess the proximity of the bus station makes the train station ones duplicatous .There are other stations on the network where the toilets are a lot further away from the underground station and are still classed as serving the station (Eg paddington)

There are decent public toilets in the library opposite the bus station. No problem on a travecard but you will end up paying extra on PAYG if you are just interchanging.

I believe for tfl to class the toilets as station toilets they either have to be on tfl or railway property or airport property. They will show on the map weather the toilet is in front of or behind the gateline.
