I've read the job description, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the job was actually like. Shift patterns, what's involved etc?

Anyone know? :)

Customer Service Controller will be based at York Integrated Control Centre (located in the same builiding as the York IECC oppisate P11 York Station)

The job is on a 12 hour shift basis 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, which will be a 3/4 day a week roster.

The job will involve taking real time responsibility for customer service accross the Northern (ex ATN the FNW side has its own control in Manchester) Network, ensuring the provision of information to customers and staff, and managing and ordering delivery of replacement transport when services are suspended.

They are looking for someone with control, or railway customer service experience, so its not an entry level job.

It says 'experience of working with the systems we use in Control will be beneficial but not necessary', so it could be an entry level position providing they think you're suitable.

I would think that anything on 35k a year wouldn't be entry level. It also sounds like you (and you alone) would be responsible for important coordination in disruption.
