The purpose of this thread is to expose the fact that "simplification" (see fares and routeing forum) is a farce. An exercise that they claim is for our benefit, but isn't.
Here we start with two contrasting quotes from David Mapp, Commercial Director of ATOC, the person who has been constantly going on about how good it is. But, occasionally he slips up!
So, remember that next time you buy a Saver, David Mapp wants you to buy a CD instead.

David Mapp, Atocs commercial director, said that savers could exacerbate overcrowding because companies were unable to set higher prices to deter people from travelling on the busiest off-peak trains.
Unlike season tickets, there is no economic justification for savers because they are being offered to customers who are using their income on a leisure journey rather than going to the theatre or buying CDs.
