Hi guys,

I want to go to London tomorrow with my friend. We won't be going till ~10:30ish, coming back early evening.

I have an Oyster card from a previous visit, don't think it has any money on it.

Is it best to just get a return to Liverpool Street and then use the Oyster to get around the city for the day? How much would I need to put on it to cover myself..?

Sorry if these are daft questions!

You'd be better off with an off peak day travelcard from Colchester - £37 each. Will cost less overall than buying a separate travelcard in London and less than your likely spend on Oyster

http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/ may give you some ideas as well, depending on what you want to see.

Sorry - misread your starting point - Chelmsford is cheaper - the travelcard is £25.80

Which zones do you plan to cover and how many trips will you make in London?

Based on what you've told me I'd go for the Chelmsford - London Travelcard (Z1-6) at £25.80. The off peak day return to London terminals is £19.80 and a day travelcard is about £8 so it works out marginally cheaper if you use the full travelcard allowance

Thank you guys! I will do that, as we don't really know how many trips we will be making in London...

Gosh, it's not as cheap as I remember when I were a nipper!

Much appreciated.
