I was in a GWR train that was delayed for half an hour, I have a educational concess season ticket that was issued by my local council, am I able to claim delay repay?

You are entitled to Delay Repay based on your season ticket price. If it was 30-59 minutes, then you will be entitled to 1/232 x 25% x season ticket price. See https://www.gwr.com/help-and-support/refunds-and-compensation/delay-repay for the details.

Note that the 'season ticket price' is based on the face value of the season ticket (if you have a paper ticket, then this will be whatever is listed as the price on the paper ticket; With a smartcard, we might need more details).

As long as something was paid, then yes, you can claim Delay Repay in the normal way. It will be calculated as a proportion of the season ticket, based on an assumed number of journeys during its duration (broadly speaking equivalent to one journey per weekday).

The struggle in this case tends to be finding how much the face value of the season ticket is.

I had a paper season with an educational concession issued by my sixth form to travel to college back when I was there a few years ago, but the price field was blank.

In the end, the first time round I emailed South Western Railway (who the sixth form buys the tickets from) who managed to give me the correct answer, but afterwards it was just easier to pop into the sixth form’s finance office (which was actually called Student Travel & Support) and ask them how much they paid SWR for it once a term!

If the price isn’t printed on the paper season or stored on the smartcard (if you have one), you’ll probably be best off asking the council.

My ticket doesn't have the price on it either and I don't think I can just call up and ask, any other ideas or do they need the cost of the ticket?

They’ll need the cost of the ticket.

I guess you could just go with the former approach and email GWR explaining the situation and asking how much the season costs.

You might be able to enter the price as "0" and let GWR work it out, so-to-speak. Most likely they'll come back asking for the price, but there's a small chance they won't.
