In Geoff Marshall's recent 197 video he has a bit of a rant on not being able to buy the correct Route Runcorn ticket for travelling on the TFW Chester to Liverpool Lime St service. The ticket not appearing on TVMs only the Any Permitted, via Warrington and via Birkenhead. He bought the correct ticket at the ticket office.

On checking BR Fares I noticed that the Any Permitted, via Warrington and via Birkenhead tickets have flow origin and destinations as clusters Q123 and Q233 whereas the via Runcorn ticket is from specific stations 2412 to 2246. Is this the reason the ticket was 'difficult' to find?

Chester - Runcorn - Liverpool TfW service suspended until further notice and no rail replacement service provided.

TfW are suggesting using Merseyrail, not great for Chester to Runcorn though!

What brought about the suspesion ?

Is the route via Earlstown and Newton Le Willows affected ?

Three 175 fires resulting in almost the whole fleet being withdrawn for checks. Numerous services cut to cover.

Chester, he eventually bought the ticket from the ticket office.
Well I entered "Chester to Liverpool Lime Street" into a TfW TVM just now and this is what it came up with (Any Permitted would have been under "More Routes").

Well that is interesting was Mr Marshall playing it up for the cameras to get a anti ticket office closure rant in? Or have TfW fixed the problem following the video? And lastly as per my original post does having the fare defined from station to station rather than cluster to cluster have any effect?
