This appeared in my YouTube suggestions. Made by Granada Television in the mid/late 60s about the people who work inside “The Plant”. It features both old and new hands plus management and trade unionists. Several classes of diesel are seen in various states of repair as well as the test house and paint shop. It also shows some of the leisure pursuits enjoyed by some of the employees. Quite a snapshot in time…

Very interesting to see, both from the railway history and the industrial and social aspects too.
Seeing the Brush Type 2 bodies being moved by the cranes here reminded me of being taken as a child to a Derby Works Open Day (1968?) and seeing D99 lifted off it's bogies. I also remember having seen Kestrel on display there.

The retirement presentation was "interesting". A (not very) warmly delivered tribute being (not very) graciously received.
