Earlestown station

I have been asked if there were any industrial sidings that went northwards from the actual station buildings after World War II.

Does anyone on the forum have any information if this was the case.

Absolutely! In fact more than that, a Haydock Colleries branch split off from the BR network at the southern end of the triangle; bisected the triangle; and crossed the Liverpool - Manchester on a flat crossing just east of the main line platform and going to a colliery north-west of the town. Haydock Collieries locomotives used the branch and had running powers over BR metals to, I think, Dallam although I'm sure someone will correct me on that one.

Thank you for that reply. I am currently doing some research on industrial railway lines in the central Lancashire belt. There are many lines to look at, especially colliery lines.
