This morning I and fellow committee members of the Merseyside Industrial History Society were invited by Network Rail and the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Trust to visit the site of the Edge Hill Engine Station. This is located in the Chatsworth Street Cutting and includes the site of the Moorish Arch which is featured in engravings of the early days of the L&M.

The site, which was briefly open to the public as part of the Edge Hill Rail Train in 1980 (Rocket 150) is now very overgrown. However, earlier this month Historic England confirmed the scheduling of the site.

Photographs of the visit can be found on my web site:

They're great photos, hopefully the site will be open to the public one day.
