Someone didn't proof read the advert before posting it :

Applicants will ideally have a along with a good safety of the line record. You will also need to have the ability to work under pressure and react positively to unforeseen circumstances.

Still waiting for trainee train drivers at the Elizabeth line. Anyone working for MTR know of any info regarding trainee, or when the new operator takes over that they will be in process to recruit. I’ve seen the publication today of the current CEO of MTR Elizabeth line will be stepping down next month 25th May as the new Managing Director for the operator GTS Elizabeth line will take over on the same date.

Doubt it will be for a while and that's assuming they also ignore the list of internals they had for that role that have been waiting for a while.

Depends if GTS have a mandated Quota to fill of trainee drivers and how soon that needs to be met. Friends I know that work there have been told there will be some 20 Qualifieds required and that's by GTS hence this thread and application.

The last time MTR did a Trainee driver campaign was in 2022, I would assume that would have passed an expiry date for applications. Also as the new organisation/operator takes over, it would also mean they will have a completely new recruitment portal and would want to brandish themselves. Fingers crossed anyways.

For externals sure. Internals not so but since it's gone from MTR to GTS I'd assume a refresh would happen but again not much was know about the fine details of how the transfer from MTR to GTS went.

But I'd say apply for TOC trainee roles whilst you wait, turnover hasn't been that much for the Lizzy Driver Team, especially since 2022. Might see a trickle this year, that's about it from what I know.

Driver establishments are generally rather high though, so a new operator won't add much. They had dropped recently which was one reason for the recent ASLEF RDW/Overtime dispute.

Looking towards the extra units and slightly more services required to serve Old Oak Common will come but not for several years.

Does anyone have any idea of the terms and conditions for Old Oak Common?
I don't work there, but:

Average 34 hour week.

Sundays part of the working week.
Maximum 21 rostered Sundays per year.

Bank holidays are classed as a normal working day.

Some weeks are 5 days, some 4.

Eight weeks on, two weeks off - the two weeks off are made up of the missing rest days from the 5 day weeks and annual leave weeks, so annual leave weeks are part of the base roster.

10 (I think!) ad-hoc days.

2 hour spare movement.

Time and a half for all overtime (late running,
longer job off spare, rest day work).

Maximum duty length 9 hours 30 minutes.

Triple time for Boxing Day (buy no day in lieu), although so far there hasn't been a service on that day.

Rates from 2x to 2.75x on New Years Eve depending on start and finish times.

So they basically get paid time and a half extra even if they finished a minute or two late?

For that one minute - maybe, but see below. Not the whole shift.

It's common in the rail industry for the first fifteen minutes of late running overtime to not be paid.

If you don't want your RD payment, you can take it as leave with a max of 5

Redeployment is full pay for the first year

If you can't drive, I think 57k there after.

If your RD on Xmas Day you get an extra lieu day.
