I was a bit concerned to be notified of 'bauarbeiten' affecting services into Germany from Belgium from early last week as I was about to travel that way. However, the replacement is an hourly shuttle between Welkenraedt and Aachen which connects with the Brussels-Eupen service and reverse, meaning that you can now travel from Brussels into Germany hourly, and more quickly, than the usual two hourly. Having been frustrated a couple of times by inconvenient times and waits in the past this was actually quite welcome. This continues until mid-December.

I assume the OP was intending to use the 2-hourly Aachen - Liege shuttle, which used to connect with a Vise - Brussels IC during the week, but this has been thinned out leaving half hour waits and failed Eurostar connections! .

The service is changing in December to be hourly and diverting to Spa, connecting at Welkenraedt or Verviers with the Oostende IC, so the engineering works are a foretaste.
