Is there any site similar to RTT for Europe in general or German in particular? I'm just trying to get a vague idea of what type of service and service intensity certain lines will have.

TIA

There was a previous thread on real time location websites for continental railways: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/geolocalisation-de-trains-sncf.209349/

And a thread from 2019 about the same topic with the result that there isn't currently such a thing: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/real-time-trains-opentraintimes-for-db.188291/

In most countries you can see real time departure boards of stations, but basically always only with passenger trains. Examples are the Dutch NS app or sites such as this one: https://www.rijdendetreinen.nl/vertrektijden/station/utrecht-centraal. German Railways also have this: https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/b...tocol=https:&rt=1&newrequest=yes&&country=GBR

Darn, I was hoping for better news now a few years have passed.

I really just want a snapshot of passing trains along the Rhine Valley for model railway design purposes. Guess I'm going to have to try and work it out with a combination of Mainz, Koblenz and Boppard departure boards.

There is no live information, but a fair amount of offline documentation is available.

Here you can download PDF of all planned departures from a station(major stations only): https://www.bahn.de/service/fahrplaene/fahrplaene_download

On this site they sometimes publish overviews of freight traffic for a location, similar to FreightMaster: https://www.drehscheibe-online.de/ds_redaktion/news.php

Here you can download the full timetable for a particular route: http://kursbuch.bahn.de/hafas/kbview.exe . However, not all long distance trains are shown.

Here you can search the scheduled multi-customer freight trains of DB Cargo: https://planner.dbcargo.com/

Webcams are very rare in Germany due to strict privacy protection laws which would make most of what RailCam does illegal, but you might be able to glean something from this: https://www.bellevue-boppard.de/hotel-boppard/service/webcam-boppard
