I'm looking to reserve a seat on Paddington - Bristol Temple Meads service. Looking at the seating plans I cannot work which seats might be forward facing.

On East Coast website I am offered coach B seat 80 which I'm sure faces backwards.
Southeastern C-37 & C-33. FGW C-45.

Can anyone confirm?

B80 should be backwards facing leaving London. C33 should be forwards facing, either airline or table, depending if its a low density or high density set. C37 will either be backwards at a table or a forwards airline seat, again it depends on whether it is a high or low density set. C45 should be a forwards facing airline seat, but I'm not 100% sure if it's forward or backward facing in a low density set.

If you arrive at Paddington early, you'll almost definitely be able to find an unreserved forward facing seat anyway.

I don't think that is great advice - if they don't announce the platform until late it can be very difficult to find a seat. At busy times almost everything will be reserved apart from one coach.

There is no guarantee that the train won't be in 'reverse formation', regardless of what seat is booked.
