Just wondered if the lines next to the station are used nowadays for any stabling trains?

All the sidings and shed have been removed for some years and the land has now been sold off to a housing developer.

Plans were in place to builld a car park with a park and ride facility, especially when a rail replacement would be in operation. but local residents objected and Network Rail sold the land.

A new car park is to shortly open on land behind the booking office on the opposite platform.

Thanks. I am intrigued by a park and ride at Hall Road as it is tucked up right in the far corner of a dense housing estate. Even the B road to Hightown is a couple of minutes drive. I wonder if local residents have been p****d off with non-locals parking on the side streets even though the streets are wide.

The residents of Hall Road East, The Serpentine and Merrilocks Road would have been better off if they had kept quiet. It would have kept the cars off the road. Mind you it may have been the golf club whose club house is next to the site who exerted the pressure.

What's the story with the old trainshed at birkenhead central? There's a load of old sidings there too.

The platforms are alongside with the old shed on the left. Occasionally see a unit stabled in what was by the looks of it the old bay platform.

I think that the bay platform is used on a nightly basis.
I do not think that there are any tracks in the shed now.

The bay siding at Birkenhead Central is used nightly, there are still 3 lines into the old shed but no live rail.
Every so often plans do develop to reopen the shed but nothing as of yet
