Hi all

Trying to log the return journey into railmiles.me, but can’t get it to find the service south of Edinburgh.

On the London to FTW leg I had to do it in two parts, and presume it’s the same in reverse, but no matter what I try I can’t find the Edinburgh to Euston part on the return bit.

I’ve checked the dates / accounting for it being the next day when it leaves Edinburgh etc.

Any thoughts?

Could it be worthwhile looking-up the mileage for the Inverness-Euston sleeper South of Edinburgh? It has the same reporting number (1M16) throughout its journey.

Worked fine for me just now. Say I travelled on Monday 26 February from Fort William to Euston I searched for 1950 Fort William to Edinburgh and added it, then searched for Tuesday 27 February for Edinburgh to Euston at 0140. Both legs came straight up, the traction on the Edinburgh - Euston leg was wrong (it pulled through the 66 and 73 rather than the 92) but that was it.

Which date was it specifically that you were looking at (departing Fort William)?

Am completely expecting it to be user error on my part! :) I’m doing it this Friday - leaving FTW on the 1st march, arriving Euston on the 2nd

Interesting! I can get it to add the train from FTW to Edinburgh no problem but like you it won't accept the Edinburgh to Euston journey. How strange.

I think before I started manually working out the mileages I would wait and see if it'll work after the journey has occurred. But it is a little strange that you can add Inverness to Euston (the same train!) but not Edinburgh to Euston.

I think there's a chance it won't work until the next day after it arrives at Euston as the way it looks up before and after the event changes the system and how it looks up trains at non-advertised calling points. It's a very specific problem to the southbound highlander.

The trick, once the Highland sleeper is moving, is to try and tie it up to the actual departure time from Edinburgh. 0207 this morning. If the expected departure time has moved from 0140 in RTT, that time needs to be used.

I could be missing a trick but I think you can use the booked time or the actual and it will find the relevant service?
