It would seem that the Finepix S9500 is a little bit of a battery muncher.

I've seen those rechargable battery packs for other cameras, but the S9500 takes four AA batteries and I can't find anything that even looks compatible.

Is there anything available?

Cheers

no there isn't. it's the same with nearly all fuji cameras, they don't have the battery packs, thats why now I use rechargable batteries in mine, or I will when I get it back

Is it okay to use rechargable batteries in cameras? I know that alot of electronic equipment doesn't like it at all.

I remember with our old Finepix 2800ZOOM, my dad used rechargable batteries in it, and you were lucky if they lasted more than 10 minutes.

it should be fine. Put rechargables in mine day afetr the derby wayfarer meet, and they lasted right through the Barrow Hill event, even after doing a couple of videos

Get ones with a high mAh rating, they'll last longer between charges. Uniross are a decent brand.

Any type of decent rechargeable will do the trick. They last so much longer than standard batteries. Providing you dont use the screen to take photos, and instead use the viewfinder, you should get a lot more out of them.

My Fuji S5700 (Yes we know its down graded) lasts about 4 or 5 days, and in - temperatures it lasts about 2 days on rechargables.

I'm sorry but I couldn't help but laugh when I read that.

Anywho, yes rechargeable batteries should be fine to use. The higher mAh the longer the batteries last for. 1300 seem to last a few hours so use something higher or take more than 4 batteries out with you.

Also normal batteries last longer than rechargeable ones.

That shouldn't be the case :|

I have a Fuji S5600 and I use Fijifilm rechargeable (Ni-Mh 2000mAh). I find these batteries to be fantastic. On a recent trip to New York for 5 days and just under 400 photos taken the batteries lasted the whole trip without having to be changed or recharged.

Yeah, it sounds silly, but I remember reading manuals for electronic equipment that mentioned not using rechargable batteries. Just wanted to make sure.

I know that they encourage you not to mix rechargeables with standard batteries, but its certainly ok to use rechargeables in cameras.
My camera is pretty much the same as yours, (S9600), and providing you use a decent set of rechargeables, and try not to use the screen too much, the batteries will last for days.

I have set of 6 Energiser 2,500MAH Lithium-Ion batteries fo use in my 400D and even with the power demand from both the camera and the 70-200 lens' Image Stabiliser gyros it lasts for weeks on end.

Also a big BIG tip for increasing battery life... buy a card reader for your PC/laptop it'll save you alot of power!

Personal opinion is general better than a load of links trying to sell you stuff.

Your opinion is the exception though.

Of course you can have people on here saying 'I bought mine for so much'.

Then you can have the actual prices.

I know which would help me out a lot more.
